Five for Friday...February 28th

Wow it's been a crazy busy week...but fun!!!
I was excited to get our schedule back to normal and hoping for spring....but with the forecast for Sunday it's not looking too promising!

I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for 5 For Friday!
http://doodlebugsteaching.blogspot.com/

Here are five great things that happened this week!

ONE

I blogged earlier this month about indoor wellness.  I thought I would share what we do to get some exercise during indoor wellness time!  We pull up Just Dance and rock it out!  This one is from One Direction, "What Makes You Beautiful!"  I also really enjoy "What Does the Fox Say?"

TWO

I have been starting a BIG project of making some reading intervention centers.  I wanted to share how I organize my reading centers in the classroom.  I am lucky enough to have a parent volunteer during my literacy centers and they look at what "color" group they have for the day and pull from the colored folders.  The groups are grouped based on their need.  As you will see below, currently my green group (green folders) are working on fluency and my yellow group is working on word families.  I love this organization this year and I am excited to start making my own intervention centers for each of the five components of reading!

THREE

We are lucky enough at my school to have a STEM lab, where our kiddos go every other week to engage in a very hands on "engineering" and "critical thinking" type of experiment.  They start by writing in their learning logs with "I wonder."  This week is what will happen when I put a skittle in water and in baby oil.  Then they did it!  It was so neat because the "S" actually floated on top of the water!!!  Then at the end they reflected and wrote down what they know.

FOUR

I LOVE Fridays!!!  Our first grade and fourth grade have reading buddies first thing in the morning every Friday.  Our kids LOVE having someone to read to and/or read to them.  We are also going to start having the fourth graders do a fluency passage each week with our firsties and graph them.  FABUlOUS!

FIVE

I have truly loved experiencing my first TPT sale as a seller!!!  It was so much fun.  There is only 2 hours left!! Make sure you head on over!

Thank you Doodle Bugs Teaching for letting me link up on this Five For Friday!

Is it spring yet????

Now that we are back into the swing of things and the weather looks uplifting by the end of the week, I find myself asking, "Is it spring yet??"  I am ready to get outside for wellness time and so are my kiddos!!

I wonder what everyone does for indoor wellness time to get the wiggles out and physical activity?

No matter what kind of day I've had though, when I come home I am always greeted by this cutie which makes my day!  I love my Lexi!

I hope you all are having a wonderful week and be hopeful for the spring!!!!  :)

I'm so excited to be posting my very first Five for Friday!
http://doodlebugsteaching.blogspot.com/

(ONE)

Happy Valentine's Day!!! My husband and I usually don't do too much for Valentine's day. When I came home from working on a snow day with no snow...I found this! Yes Diet Coke and Reese Cups are my favorite!

(TWO)

We celebrated our 100th day of school this past Monday! The kids were so excited to share their projects they made at home with 100 objects. I had so many cute projects but this is my favorite! :)

(THREE)

I love watching the Winter Games this year while sitting on my couch and working on stuff for the blog! My dog, Lexi had another idea this week...block mommy's view! haha I love this little cutie!

(FOUR)

This week during our core extension time, my group has been working on Reader's Theater!  This is such a fun and engaging way to practice fluency and expression.  First graders seem to love it!

(FIVE)

I'm about to finish my first BIG product!  I'm super excited about it and can't wait to post more about it.  It's March themed and it is a printables pack that reviews various common core standards in ELA and Math!  I can't wait!

Fast Paced February!

Wow...can you believe how fast the time is already flying by?  There is so much going on in February...Groundhog's Day, Super Bowl, 100th day, President's Day, and Valentine's Day!  Wow so much to plan for...but all so fun!  On the 14th, our school is celebrating "Friendship Day" and I will be planning a lot of fun and engaging Valentine's Day activities.  One that I love every year is to do "I Have Who Has" game.  This year I made one that is aligned to 2 math common core state standards!  You can get one at my TPT store! :)

Teach upper grades?  Check out my friend Mackenzie's blog where she actually has a free Valentine's Day multiplication "I Have Who Has" game!

Have a Fabulous February friends!

Relaxing Weekend

This is exactly how I felt on Friday morning!  We had a full week back from all of the snow and cold temperatures so the kids and I were all worn out by Friday but at least it was a productive week!  I was so excited to get home and relax!  Our 100th day is coming up this next week so I am excitedly planning for that!  February has a lot going on....100th day, Groundhog day, Valentine's Day, President's day....phew!  Lots of cool stuff to plan and learn with the kiddos!

What special day in February are you looking forward to and why??
